The U.S. Has Dropped 6000 Bombs in Afghanistan in 10 months

It was recorded that US air forces against Afghanistan until the end of October this year, close to 6000 bombs and other ammunition dropped and it was reported to be the highest figure recorded for more than 10 years.

According to the news of Stars and Stripes, a monthly report was prepared by the U.S. Air Forces Central Command (AFCENT) on attacks against Afghanistan.

The report revealed that the United States forces released 5,982 bombs and other ammunition at the attacks on Afghanistan until the end of October.

It was remarked that this latest figure surpasses the number of 5,400 recorded in the military operation carried out in 2011.

According to the figures of AFCENT, which has published regular data on the ammunition and bombs released in the attacks since 2006, US-led coalition aircraft flew about 6,600 sorties from the beginning of 2018 to the end of October.

The report also included evaluations on recorded civilian deaths and injuries as a result of aerial attacks. Accordingly, the civilian deaths in the country, which has been recorded by the UN since 2009, reached the highest level in the mentioned period compared to the previous periods.

It was reported that the figures in the data of AFCENT covers the data of the dropped bombs and missile attacks against the country by U.S.

The USA, which sent its military power to Afghanistan shortly after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers in New York City, has so far spend about one trillion dollars. Thousands of people lost their lives in the longest war in the history of this country.

During Barack Obama's presidency, after 2014, despite the Bilateral Security Agreement which has enabled the approxiamately 10 thousand US soldiers to stay in Afghanistan, it is remarkable that the war environment in the country continues to grow in the period of US President Donald Trump.

According to the report released by The UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) on October, the increasing number of Afghan civilians who lost their lives came to the forefront rather than the number of fighting parties who lost their live during the conflict.

According to the report, a total of 1692 civilians lost their lives in the six-month period until June 30 this year. It is emphasized that this figure is incomparably higher than over the last decades.

The war in Afghanistan: “Deadlocked”

The failure of the new Afghanistan strategy not to hinder the progress of the Taliban and the escalation of rivalry at the region forced the US government to make a radical change in its Afghanistan policy and sit to the table for direct talks with Taliban.

The Taliban has emerged stronger from the war carried out by US since 2001. While the US and NATO-backed Afghan security forces suffer heavy losses in the war, the Taliban continues to have more territory in Afghanistan. The organization controls nearly 20 percent of Afghanistan today, and more than 30 percent of the country has instability. Kabul management is able to establish control only 50 percent of the country.

The US war in Afghanistan is in a great deadlock for both sides. The Afghan Security Forces are facing heavy casualties in the face of the Taliban's repeated attacks. According to a report published in the New York Times, US commanders are said to have advised the Afghan Ministry of Defense officials to withdraw from the countryside so as to decrease the number of loss of life and the cost, and to focus on the control of the large cities and the strategic points instead of the controlling of rural areas.

Taliban not winning war

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, in a statement last month, mentioned about the losses in the operations against the Taliban and said that “The Taliban are not in a winning position.”

Gani, who shares the knowledge that the Afghan army has lost 28 thousand 529 troops since 2015, during the conflict against to Taliban said that most of the losses incurred in attacks to the static positions. However, he has propounded that the Afghan Air Forces and commando troops will retake the territory from Taliban control.
