Youth Informatics Festival 's session titled " Turkey's Space Journey" brought together the executives of Turkey's leading technology companies .
In his speech, ASELSAN Chairman and General Manager Haluk Görgün said that space now makes vital contributions to areas such as research, development, education and innovation, economic growth, improving the quality of life, protecting nature, disaster management, security and defense. Stating that they benefit from the blessings of space and the technologies that offer them to the fullest in daily life, Görgün pointed out that the source of many applications, from locations defined to phones to go somewhere, to GPS data, is space technologies.

In daily life, the information obtained with the technologies developed within the framework of space exploration; Explaining that it is used extensively in many different fields such as health, agriculture, environment, energy, transportation and communication, Görgün stated that as a result of these, technological and economic gains have been achieved.
Emphasizing that ASELSAN has been working with the aim of developing national technologies for space and satellite technologies since the beginning of the 2000s, Görgün said, "We are trying to contribute by following the priorities set by the Turkish Space Agency. We have a system that operates at a distance of about 36 thousand kilometers in space, we are proud of our engineers. "Our Ku-Band Receiver and Ka-Band Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) equipment are working on the TÜRKSAT 5B satellite. We are working to develop any possible payload on the TÜRKSAT 6A satellite." said.
Turkey's aircraft and helicopter projects
TUSAŞ General Manager Temel Kotil said that the future is bright for young people and that only one person can make a difference.
Explaining that satellite studies are one of the important fields of activity of the company, Kotil mentioned that at the end of these efforts, they signed Turkey's first satellite export.

Stating that as a technology company, they hire 1000 engineers every year, Kotil said, "We study space, we build airplanes. There is also the National Combat Aircraft for the survival of Turkey, but none of them are as exciting as your future." he said.
Upon the questions of the students, Kotil informed that the National Combat Aircraft will start the engine on March 18, 2023 and will be delivered to the Air Force in 2028.
Expressing that their work continues on a defense-oriented basis in line with the needs, Kotil said, "Our energy practically goes to the defense industry, in particular TAI. We want to build passenger planes, but our current load is too heavy. We have 13 thousand employees, but we do not have employees for civil aircraft. Because The National Combat Aircraft alone has 1200 engineers, it will rise to 6000. There is a long way to go." gave the answer.
In response to the question of whether the electric helicopter is on their agenda, Kotil said, "We tested the T629 helicopter by propulsion with an electric motor for the first time. The current batteries cannot contain enough energy to lift a helicopter. The total engine power of the helicopter is 3200 horsepower. It was an experiment. If there is no revolution in battery technology, we will not have an electric helicopter. " used the phrase.
Türkiye's satellite fleet expands
In his speech, Türksat AŞ General Manager Hasan Hüseyin Ertok stated that as a company, they have more than 30 years of experience in the field of satellite and space technologies.

Pointing to the importance of qualified human resources in this field, Ertok said, "We have added nearly 50 engineers who follow the design and production processes in satellite-space technologies to our country as expert staff. This is a very important step." said.
Explaining that they are actively protecting their orbital rights with 4 satellites, Ertok stated that they will put the TÜRKSAT 5B satellite into service in July, and that the number of satellites in the fleet will increase to 6 with TÜRKSAT 6A, which is planned to be launched in the first half of next year. Ertok said, "TÜRKSAT 6A will be the first satellite where many satellite technologies will be used. More than 30 locally developed equipment will gain a flight history. Unless you send an equipment to space and operate it correctly, it is not possible to sell it to anyone. All of these equipment will work and it is an important satellite of Turkey. We'll see if it becomes a manufacturer." made its assessment.
Ertok noted that they aim to expand the fleet, increase service areas, coverage and capacities by following the needs, and that they follow new technologies for this.
In the "Defense Technologies" session of the event, HAVELSAN Corporate Development Deputy General Manager Nejat Semih Demirtoka, TÜBİTAK Defense Industry Research and Development Institute Deputy Manager Osman Başoğlu, ROKETSAN Deputy General Manager Murat Kurtuluş and Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Deputy General Manager of Communication Onur Gençer talked about their work. gave information.
